Why does my device say atomizer short?

Atomizer short is a generic error that basically means your coil is not registering as connected to the mod. Usually you can fix this problem by removing the coil and reinserting it in the tank. Common causes of this are dropping the device and knocking it loose, top-fill tanks that are slightly turning the tank when filling which allows the coil to slowly become unseated, or on rare occasions a bad coil. Feel free to bring your device to any of our locations if the above recommendations do not fix your problem and we will be happy to troubleshoot it for you.

Can I order online, over the phone, or have items shipped to me?

Unfortunately we are not able to ship any items. The coronavirus relief bill passed in December of 2020 included a law entitled Preventing Online Sales of E-Cigarettes to Children Act. This law inserts vaping products into the Prevent All Cigarette Trafficking Act, or in simple terms the PACT Act. Following this bill the USPS, UPS, and FedEx shipping companies announced they would stop delivering all vaping products. Please feel free to check out our advocacy section to learn more about how you as consumers can help.

Please feel free to take advantage of our curbside service at all of our locations.

Why does my tank leak?

Leaking tanks can have many different causes.

  1. If your coil is starting to go bad. When your coil starts to singe the cotton is slowly being worn away allowing the eliquid to seep into the airflow causing leakage.

  2. If you are vaping below the suggested wattage of your coil. Coils are designed with specific wattage ranges in mind. They are balanced to wick liquid from the tank to support these wattage ranges, so when you vape below the suggested range the coil becomes oversaturated and can cause leaking. On the other hand if you vape above the recommended wattage range the coil has a hard time keeping the cotton saturated and can start to singe and burn the cotton away.

  3. Component failure, this can be as simple as a crack in your glass, or a coil not seated properly or as rare as a slight separation of tank parts caused by a fall or swollen gasket.

Again feel free to bring your tanks into any of our locations and we will be happy to help you troubleshoot the issue.

Do I need to bring an ID?

Yes, our policy is to ID everyone, every visit. The federal legal age to purchase vaping products is 21. Currently there is no exemption for military or anyone else. Our company policy is to ID everyone on every visit to ensure that we are compliant with these federal laws and that our employees are protected. We appreciate your understanding.

Why does my coil burn out so fast?

Coils can be affected by both the type of liquid you use and also the wattage you vape.

  1. Liquid that is on the sweeter side can caramelize on your coil creating a flashpoint that slowly singes your cotton. This is a quick way to burn out a coil and cause leakage. For those sweeter liquids you will have to change your coil more often.

  2. Wattage is the power level at which you are vaping. The higher the power level the more liquid you vaporize at a time, if you are taking multiple pulls back to back or if you are taking long pulls on your vape the coil may not have time to wick enough e-liquid to saturate your coil between puffs.

FAQs

What is the difference between salt nic and regular nicotine levels?

The difference between regular nicotine and Salt nic is the PH balance, Salt nic has a lower PH level which affects the alkalinity and allows for a smoother throat hit at higher nicotine levels. Regular nicotine can become harsh as you go up in nicotine levels. It is not recommended to use Salt nic in sub-ohm high powered devices to avoid excessive nicotine consumption.

Can I get a tobacco or menthol flavor without nicotine?

The answer is yes. The flavorings themselves do not contain nicotine. So if you still want that traditional tobacco or menthol flavor you are able to get it with or without nicotine.

Is vaping safe?

Unfortunately, we’re not allowed to discuss the safety of vaping devices due to federal restrictions. We’re very sorry about this, but you can do plenty of independent research yourself on the internet. We recommend starting with the Royal College of Physicians.

How long should my coil last?

There are too many factors to give you a set time limit on coil life. Usually its is between one and two weeks. However sometimes the coil burns out in 3 days other times it lasts longer than the usual range. The sweetness of your e-liquid, the wattage you vape at, and the treatment of that coil are all factors that affect the life of your coil. The best advice that we can give you is pay attention to your coil, when it starts to lose flavor, taste burnt, or begins seeping liquid into the air flow it may be time to change your coil.

What is the best device?

This question is one we get a lot. The simple answer is that they all have pros and cons. My favorite device may not work for you and your favorite device may not work for me. It is really dependent on what you want your vaping experience to be. Some customers want to be able to be discreet, use the higher nicotine salt nic while others like that full lung hit of a sub ohm high powered device. The best advice we can give you is to come into one of our shops and discuss with our sales associates what your expectations and preference is and we will personalize our recommendations to fit your individual needs.

Can I quit smoking by vaping?

We are prevented from talking about this by federal regulations which came into force in 2016 It is impossible to say whether YOU can quit smoking by vaping. The only thing we can say with certainty is that there are many people who are known to have quit smoking by substituting with vaping. Whether you will be one of those people depends on a few factors, such as how motivated you are, how much effort you make finding a device that works for you, and how much you find you enjoy vaping. The only way to find out is to try!

Why is the e-liquid more expensive than I remember?

In the state of Virginia, on July 1st 2020, all e-liquid became subject to Virginia’s product tax at a rate of 6.6¢ per milliliter. The current taxes per bottle size are as follows.

30ml - $1.98 60ml - $3.96 100ml - $6.60 120ml - $7.92

These taxes are shown on your receipts as the VA. ML surcharge.

What is the difference between interal and external batteries?

Internal battery mods charge the battery by plugging directly into the mod like a cell phone. These mods are usually starter kits that are between 40w and 100w of power. These mods are easy for beginners and don’t have the extra cost of batteries or battery chargers. Once the battery life starts to drop, or the mod stops taking a charge you will have to replace the entire mod because the battery is not replaceable. *Almost all of the low power, small salt nic devices are going to be internal battery mods.

External battery mods charge the battery by removing it from the device and putting it on a charger. These devices are usually great for people that don’t like the downtime associated with a mod they have to plug in and leave. The batteries are easily inter-changeable and you can have one set on the charger and one set in your mod at all times. If the batteries start to die faster or stop taking a charge you can just replace them and the mod will continue to work. They are a little bit more expensive to get started with however, due to the cost of purchasing batteries and a charger. *Almost all of the dual battery high wattage devices are going to be external battery mods.

There is no right or wrong answer with either internal or external battery mods. It is absolutely personal preference, and the way you want to vape.

Do you price match?

Yes we do Price Match. Bring any receipt showing an item we carry and we will price match.

How long is my battery going to last?

The lifespan of a battery can vary wildly from device to device. Overall we recommend replacing your batteries between 6 months to a year. The biggest indicator that you need new batteries is the usage time of your batteries. If you used to get 6 hours out of a set of batteries but now you only get 4 then it may be time to replace them. The other indicator is if your battery wraps have become damaged or torn. The battery wrap is there as a protection to keep your battery from making contact when you are not using it. Torn battery wraps can become a hazard.

Why don’t you carry *insert favorite item here*?

We do offer Special Orders if you cannot find what you are looking for on our shelves.

While we try to have a large selection of both hardware and e-liquid for you to choose from there are just too many items on the market to stock all of them. We also only carry products that have submitted PMTA’s with the FDA. Some of our favorite e-liquid brands are no longer making some of their e-liquids because they chose not to go forward with the PMTA process on them. To learn more about the PMTA’s and how they have affected the Vaping industry please visit our advocacy page. We encourage you to use the contact us form to recommend your favorite items.
